The designer

''It all started with a shirt, the shirt of a grandfather in fact. Grandparents always seem to be the best keepers of the greatest treasures, the items that are hard to find as the years pass by. As a child I was always so completely infatuated by my grandparents and the clothing they'd had for so many years or jewellery that was given to them by their great, great grandmas or grandpas, there was something so entirely magical about holding something so old in your hands and being told it belonged to so many others before it reached your grandparents.
They are the masters of preservation and were raised in a period of time where clothing was valuable and treasured and it was to be worn until it dropped off their back. I think keeping something for a long time has become less and less appealing and when items of clothing became more affordable due to mass production, they became easily disposable.
I think the magic of old things has become lost over the years and we now tend to find the most joy in things that are new and unused, somewhere along the way the beauty of preservation was lost and I want to re-create that feeling of magic for the next generation, the magic in knowing that a shirt which once dressed your grandfather now dresses you. Nurture is in our nature and seeing that restored in my first collection is incredible.
This whole thought inspired me to create something that will hopefully be passed on for generations to come and my first collection 'Le camicie di nonno' (Grandpas shirt) is an ode to the next generation of keepers, using the shirts of grandfathers I aim to bring back to life those old garments found hidden at the back of wardrobes and deep within the compounds of the attic. I hope to inspire a new generation of tiny humans who are striving towards a better looked after tomorrow.''
